Writers in Dhaka on Sunday stressed the need for writing more books in English to portray the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh to other parts of the world. LETTER to all JMAAA Members regarding subscription

 OBITUARY:

Capt. Sheikh Iftekhar Ahmed (10th batch) has passed away on 26 October 2006 at Sikdar Hospital, Dhaka. He was suffering from cardiac problems. He left behind his wife, one son, two daughters, relatives, friends and a host admirers. May Allah bless his soul.

Niaz Ahmed (22nd batch) also passed away on 26 September 2006 at Calvary hospital, Canberra, Australia. He was working for the Department of Immigration, Australia. May Allah rest his soul in peace.
 

I am deeply sad to inform you all that Mr. Ansary, ex Commandant/Chief Engineer of Juldia Marine Academy, passed away (Inna-lillahi Oyainna-elahi rajeywon) on September 22, 2006 at Karachi due to heart failure. It will be appreciated if you would be kind enough to pass this massage to other Juldians and pray for the departed soul for eternal peace.

At our next meeting we shall hold an election and through show of hands we will post new officers. As well, the constitution will be put in place.

Mr. Ghulam Suhrawardi handing over a check of 4 lakh  takas to the Commandant of the Marine Academy, Captain Ali Imam towards scholarships for the needy Marine Academy Cadets. “Suhrawardi scholarship fund” was created about 5 years ago through which Ghulam Suhrawardi has been contributing towards the needy Cadets of the Academy. He also contributed a full set of  Nautical and Engineering books earlier.
